It's been a busy couple of days in Goodyear's main headquarters in Akron, Ohio after the brand has been on the headlines recently following a call from President Donald Trump to boycott its products. Who else better to defend the brand amid the controversies than Akron's very own LeBron James.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar took time after their Game 2 win over the Portland Trail Blazers to share his thoughts on the President's recent tirades against the Ohio-based company.

“I know my people of Akron and I know what Goodyear means to our city.” James said (per Ben Golliver of The Washington Post). “One thing about us, we don't bend and we don't fold and we don't break for nobody.”

Goodyear received the criticisms from POTUS after it was reported that the company has forbidden its staff to wear Trump campaign merchandise while allowing its members to campaign for other causes like LGTBQIA+ rights as well as support the BLM movement. Obviously, protocols like this would receive flak from Trump and his supporters who are campaigning for equality in terms of political expression.

The 121-year old tire-making company is standing by its policies stating that they only forbid actions that “fall outside the scope of racial justice and equity issues“. Something that LeBron James wholeheartedly supports himself. The King mentions that he's not worried about Trump's call to boycott the company and is backing Goodyear and its members.

“I'm not worried about that. Not only has Goodyear been great for my city, for the history of my city and for the country and what they've represented.” James went on to explain. “We stand strong and we always unite, especially in my city. We've always felt that we've been counted out being a small city and that's what rally us even more and makes us even stronger. Shout out to all the workers, men and women, at Goodyear.”
