On Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers continued their preseason with a road game against the Golden State Warriors. LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Austin Reaves all sat out this one, but it was still a good opportunity for some of Los Angeles' younger players to get some run.

On Monday, James took to X, formerly Twitter, to tease what seems to be a spoof of his infamous “The Decision” ESPN special from 2010, when he took his talents to South Beach to join the Miami Heat.

It's unclear what exactly James will be announcing on October 7 at 12:00 PM ET, but fans in the comment section had ideas.

“Please tell me this is not a retirement decision?” wrote one fan.

“He’s taking his talents to Detroit to join the Detroit Pistons,” predicted another.

Others predicted that it would simply be an advertisement.

“Gonna be an ad for Chipotle and he’s deciding between chicken or beef,” they wrote.

Whatever James meant by this, he clearly got the attention he was looking for, and fans are sure to be tuned in on October 12.

Assuming that James is not announcing his retirement from the sport on October 12, the Lakers enter this season with somewhat lofty expectations in what will be the first full year of the Luka Doncic era.

Los Angeles at least attempted to address some of their shortcomings from last year's playoff loss by adding Marcus Smart and Deandre Ayton on the buyout market, which they hope will help them out with their perimeter defense and frontcourt depth.

It will be interesting to see how head coach JJ Redick, newly re-signed to a contract extension, will navigate the defensively challenged backcourt of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, and if he might even consider throwing Smart out with the starters to try to provide some help in that department.

In any case, the Lakers are set to begin their season on October 21 at home against the Golden State Warriors. That game will tip off at 10:00 PM ET from the Crypto.com Arena.
