The Los Angeles Lakers could have very easily been celebrating the franchise's 17th title right now had it not been for a wide-open miss from Danny Green in the dying moments of Game 5 against the Miami Heat. It was LeBron James who dished out a perfect kick-out pass to Green, and the former has spoken out about L.A.'s final play.
James was understandably disappointed, but no way was he pinning this loss on Green (h/t Marc J. Spears of ESPN):
“We got a hell of a look to win the game and the series. It didn’t go down,” @KingJames said.

LeBron was on fire in this one, finishing with a game-high 40 points on 15-of-21 shooting, as well as 6-of-9 from distance. He also came through for L.A. in the clutch, and with the Heat opting to double team him on the Lakers' final possession, James was able to connect on a pinpoint pass to a wide-open Danny Green at the top of the key. As he described the sequence above, it was an outstanding play that just didn't work out the way they wanted it to.
As for Green, he logged eight points on 3-of-8 shooting, to go with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal. The veteran swingman also knocked down two triples in this one, but his last miss was the one that mattered most.
The Lakers will need to pick themselves up after what was a very disappointing loss on Friday. They have another opportunity to close out this series on Sunday, as they take on the Heat again in Game 6. L.A. is still the heavy favorites here, but as we've seen, Miami won't be going down without a fight.
