One NBA executive doesn't understand why the Los Angeles Lakers have interest in Dwight Howard.

Howard, who is a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, is expected to be waived by Memphis before the 2019-20 season starts. The former superstar big man is reportedly going to work out for the Lakers, who are in need of another center after losing DeMarcus Cousins to an ACL tear:

“He brings drama. Why risk anything this year?” one NBA executive said of Howard and the Lakers, given the team's playoff aspirations, via Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

Howard has played for four teams in the last four years. He appeared in just nine games last season with the Washington Wizards. The eight-time All-Star underwent back surgery in November. Howard averaged 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds with Washington.

Since his prime days with the Orlando Magic ended, Howard has played for the Lakers, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets and Wizards. There were reports out of Atlanta that Hawks players were thrilled when the franchise traded Howard to the Hornets. According to former player and current NBA analyst Brendan Haywood, Hornets players didn't like Howard either.

Since the Lakers have title aspirations with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the charge, and James' teams are always in the news since The King attracts a lot of hoopla, the Lakers might be better off passing on a Howard reunion.
