There is probably no bigger bandwagon jumper in sports media than Shannon Sharpe. Wherever LeBron James goes, Sharpe's allegiance follows, so it comes as no surprise that he is instructing Los Angeles Lakers fans on how to recruit Anthony Davis ahead of their game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night:

Here's the thing, though: Lakers fans can recruit Davis as much as they want, but the fact of the matter is that Davis is under contract through the end of next season, so the Pelicans have full control over him up until then.

Let's remember that so many people were sure that Kawhi Leonard would end up in L.A. this past summer, but the San Antonio Spurs' front office was determined to send him elsewhere, so they did.

Now, Leonard still apparently wants to play in Los Angeles, but for the other team that calls the Staples Center home.

As for Davis? No one really knows what he wants. He has made no indication that he wants out of New Orleans, but the general consensus is that the Pelicans are going to have a very difficult time convincing him to re-sign during the summer of 2020.

New Orleans is insisting that he is not on the trade market, and that is hardly shocking. The chances of the Pels actually dealing Davis sometime this season seem slim to none.

However, that won't stop the Lakers faithful from making their voices heard on Friday evening when Davis enters the building.

All of that being said, Davis missed shootaround with an illness, so it is also entirely possible that he doesn't even play in this game.
