With Kawhi Leonard asking for a trade there is speculation that he could team up with LeBron James and Paul George with the Los Angeles Lakers.

To do that, the Lakers are going to need to open up some cap space this offseason, and Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report broke down how it all could happen.

For any of this to happen the San Antonio Spurs are going to need to be willing to trade Leonard to the Lakers and that is very much up in the air.

The Spurs are probably not going to want to take on a bad contract, so the two teams would have to wait until July when the new league year happens to trade say Brandon Ingram ($5.8 million) for Leonard.

Another option Pincus brought up would be to find a team that would be willing to take on Luol Deng's salary in return for a draft pick or two. A team with a lot of cap space like the Atlanta Hawks might be willing to do such a trade.

Julius Randle is a restricted free agent and unsigned he will count $12.4 million towards the cap. After the team reaches the salary cap they can still sign Randle to his max contract of over $25 million. If Ingram was traded and Deng still on the books and they signed Randle that would give them $34 million in contract space, and that could be enough to get James to town.

If the Lakers traded Deng and didn't re-sign Randle that would push their cap space up to $62.7 million. That would be enough to get all three if James and George will willing to take a slight pay cut.

Pincus lays out the path perfectly and now it's just up for the Lakers to follow suit and everything else to fall into place.

It will take a lot of work to get all three in Los Angeles, but there is a path to it happening.
