The Los Angeles Lakers have made the first big splash in the summer of 2019, trading Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and a host of first-round picks for New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis.
As if it had not been made abundantly clear in the wake of an already tumultuous offseason, Jeanie Buss and the rest of Laker Nation are determined to win now, especially with the Western Conference suddenly appearing slightly more gettable next season.
The next step for the Lakers is free agency, where they will have some cap space as they chase another marquee name to play alongside Davis and LeBron James.
One player who has surfaced as a potential target for the Lakers is James' former teammate in Cleveland, point guard Kyrie Irving.
Although there have been a number of signs pointing to Irving signing with the Brooklyn Nets, Sam Amick of The Athletic reports that a source close to LeBron believes that the Lakers are still in the running to land Kyrie:

It certainly matters that the two former Cavs co-stars reconciled back in January, when our Joe Vardon detailed the apology phone call heard ‘round the basketball world. What’s more, it was also clear back then that James was open to the possibility of a reunion. Just days before the Davis deal was done, a source close to James indicated some optimism that – Nets noise be darned – Irving was still in play for the Lakers.
The Lakers would ideally love to land a point guard like Irving or Kemba Walker, though matters have become slightly complicated due to the fact that they are not currently expected to have full max space due to the timing of the Davis trade.
