Damian Lillard was an avid spectator of Saturday night's matchup between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Portland Trail Blazers superstar liked what he saw from the Grizzlies and it led him to a blunt assessment of this squad.
Clearly, Lillard loves how the Grizzlies went through the process of building their team from the ground up as opposed to acquiring stars via trade or free agency:
“Memphis drafted they a– off,” Lillard wrote in his tweet.

Indeed they did. The Grizzlies are one of the youngest teams in the NBA right now but despite their youth, this team is playing like they've been around for so long. A lot of credit has to be given to the Grizzlies front office for building their team around their young cornerstone superstar in Ja Morant, who they drafted second overall back in 2019. Memphis is taking the old school route and Dame is loving it.
Talking about youthful teams, the Timberwolves have a pretty young core as well. Much like the Grizzlies, however, they too are playing with a sense of reckless abandon. This is what makes this series so captivating.
