Memphis Grizzlies fans received some terrific news with the return of Ja Morant from injury. The 2019-20 Rookie of The Year Winner missed a total of eight games in two weeks after sustaining a Grade 2 ankle sprain in a regular-season game against the Brooklyn Nets last December.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski shared the welcome development on Saturday. Morant is expected to start against the red-hot Philadelphia 76ers at FedEx Forum.

It was indeed a scary sight for Memphis when the 21-year-old guard fell hard and limped off the court in pain. The initial diagnosis had Morant missing up to three to five weeks, but looks like the former Murray State standout has recovered well ahead of schedule.

Ja Morant was playing phenomenal basketball at the start of his sophomore campaign in 2020-21. He was notching a team-best 26.4 points on 54.5 percent shooting from the field and 33.3 from three, along with 2.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists in his first three games before the injury. The 6-foot-3 speedster even erupted for a career-high 44 points in the Grizzlies' season-opener albeit losing to the San Antonio Spurs.

The Grizzlies, meanwhile, have done a great job holding the fort with their best player in street clothes. The Taylor Jenkins-coached team went 4-3 in Morant's absence and currently holds a 5-6 win-loss slate (11th in the Western Conference). Ja Morant and the Grizzlies, meanwhile, will have a tough task at hand since the Sixers have won their last two contests.

Memphis expects a lot out of their young star following that impressive rookie season where he beat Zion Williamson for Rookie of the Year honors. Things are certainly looking up in Memphis with Ja Morant back in tow.
