After a strong first season that saw him win the Rookie of the Year Award, Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant has set his sights on bigger goals this year, and he wants people to know exactly what it is.

With the NBA and the NBA Players Association in discussions about the scenarios that they have when hosting the All-Star Game, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, like holding it in March, Morant has already thrown his name into the conversation. The 21-year-old tweeted his jersey number along with his name and the hashtag “NBA All-Star,” making it clear that after a strong rookie year, he wants to be playing against the league’s best players in March.

The second overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft has played just five games so far this season after an ankle injury forced him to miss a couple of weeks of action. The Grizzlies were rolling when he returned to the court, winning three straight, which has continued with Morant back in the lineup after he led Memphis to wins over the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns in his return as the team moved up to 7-6 this season.

So far, the Murray State product has averaged 22.6 points, two rebounds, seven assists, and one steal on 53.2 percent shooting from the field and 28.6 percent from beyond the arc in five games played. If Morant continues to play as well as he has for the next month and the Grizzlies keep winning, then he may find others backing up his campaign to become a first-time All-Star this season in just his second year in the league.
