Ja Morant has taken the Memphis Grizzlies to previously unthinkable heights this season. Not only is he doing so because he can do seemingly anything he wants on the court, but he has the right leadership abilities to be the face of the franchise. He showed this recently with a great message about his mother, Jamie Morant.

After a Grizzlies win against the New Orleans Pelicans on International Women's Day, Morant discussed what his mother means to him. He said that she is his best friend and that she taught him to celebrate women every day, which he carries with him in his treatment of his sister, daughter and others.

In 2020, Morant showed the love he has for his mother by surprising her with a new car. His love for her is a beautiful sight to see and is something that should continue to be publicly embraced by athletes.

Morant's dignified message shows why he is role-model material and is worth rooting for. With his confidence and brash style of play combined with down-to-earth humility, he is what every franchise should hope for out of their star player.

The Grizzlies, now second in the Western Conference, are continuing to thrive under Morant's leadership. He is having himself an amazing season on the court, averaging 27.5 points, 6.7 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. The young squad owns the second-best record in the NBA and is cruising as of late. With Morant surrounded by a cast of young players with a chip on its shoulder, the Grizzlies are ready to make a run.
