The Minnesota Timberwolves are on a three-game winning streak and 6-2 since trading Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers. The play of backup point guard Derrick Rose is a big reason why the Timberwolves are playing well. However, the play of former No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins has been really tough to watch.

Counting Monday night's win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Derrick Rose has scored 59 points while shooting 26-for-43 from the field over the last three games. The former MVP is only making $2.1 million this season.

Andrew Wiggins, meanwhile, is struggling mightily. The 23-year-old has scored 20 points on 8-for-37 shooting during the Timberwolves' winning streak. Wiggins is making over $25.4 million on the season.

Derrick Rose is having a resurgence in Minnesota. The Chicago native scored a career-high 50 points against the Utah Jazz on Halloween and entered Monday averaging 19.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 47.8 percent from beyond the arc. The familiarity with head coach Tom Thibodeau is suiting Rose very well.

For Andrew Wiggins, this is either a rough patch or something to monitor moving forward. The prevailing thought was trading Jimmy Butler would allow Wiggins to take more shots on offense and be a alpha-dog. He's still settling for long contested jump shots instead of using his athleticism to get to the rim, though.
