The Minnesota Timberwolves have departed with legendary star Kevin Garnett, who announced his retirement on Friday.
Earlier this week coach Tom Thibodeau told the press that he doesn't expect Wolves big man Nikola Pekovic to be ready for training camp.
Team owner Glenn Taylor announced Friday that Pekovic will not only miss training camp, but will be out for the entirety of the year, and may be bought out.
Pekovic is due $23.7 million over the next two years, but hasn't played much the last two years. He missed 70 games last season with foot injuries.
Article Continues BelowThe big man's body seems to be breaking down and since he is unable to get his foot injuries under control, his NBA career may be coming to a close.
The team does have a reserve of six more big men, including Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns leading the way.
The likelihood of Pekovic getting playing time even if he were healthy would have been slim, but he will be an expensive buyout for the Timberwolves.
