Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards has been slowly building the highlight reel of his young career. On Monday against the Dallas Mavericks, the 19-year-old showed off his speed and athleticism by driving past former ROTY Luka Doncic before throwing down a monster slam.

Luka Doncic isn't the fastest defenders out there, and pitting him against an ultra-athletic guard in Anthony Edwards just emphasizes his flaw in that regard. The Timberwolves rookie simply breezed past the Mavs point guard and had a clear lane to the bucket. He got up so high that Dwight Powell didn't even want to be part of the poster.

Luka was left dazzling on the rookie's highlight.

Edwards had a slow start to his NBA debut, but slowly, he's living up to the hype. After coming off the bench for the first 17 games, the Georgia product has been propelled to head coach Ryan Saunders' starting lineup for the Timberwolves…and he's thriving. In Edwards' first six career starts, he has been averaging 15.7 points on a 42.9 percent shooting clip to go alongside his 4.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists. His numbers aren't lights out, but he's slowly developing a huge all-around game that can perfectly complement Minnesota's starting unit with D'Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Unfortunately, the Timberwolves have been quite unlucky in terms of their roster this season. They've missed a number of key players, including Towns, due to different injuries and the league's health and safety protocols. However, all these irregularities in the lineup should only give the young rookie more opportunities to shine.
