Former player and now ESPN NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins dispelled the notion that the Minnesota Timberwolves were being overlooked coming into the 2019-20 NBA season. It seems his comments did not go unnoticed by big man Karl-Anthony Towns.
The Timberwolves are now the only 3-0 team following their 116-109 win over the Miami Heat. Towns has since taken to Twitter to offer up his response:
Hope your A/C Broke.

Although it is still far too early in the season to say that Perkins was proven wrong, Minnesota has gotten off to a promising start in solidifying this notion. They kicked the year off in spectacular fashion with a clutch overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets in the season opener before wiping the floor with the Charlotte Hornets in the following game.

Although Towns cooled off after shooting just 8-of-21 from the field, he still did his part to secure the win by finishing with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. He was also a force on the defensive end with two steals and a block.
It is no secret that the Timberwolves have fallen vastly short of expectations in recent years. Regardless, the confidence early on is an encouraging sign for this team to potentially take that next step this time around.
It is safe to assume that both Towns and Perkins will continue to remind the other of what was said as the season plays out.
