Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns just made a statement on Monday night after dropping a career-high 60 points against the San Antonio Spurs. KAT was unstoppable as he led the Wolves to a 149-139 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Los Angeles Lakers icon Magic Johnson caught wind of Towns' epic performance and he had quite a reaction to it. According to the Hall of Famer, he firmly believes that the Timberwolves big man has just emerged as an MVP candidate after Tuesday's mind-blowing effort:
“By scoring 60 points last night, superstar Karl Anthony-Towns put himself in the running for the NBA's MVP!” Magic wrote on Twitter.

Towns is currently averaging 24.8 points on 52.9 percent shooting, 9.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game. He's also hitting 2.0 triples per contest on an efficient 40.8-percent clip. This is the reigning 3-point champ we're talking about here. Let's not forget about that fact.
Be that as it may, this still remains to be a rather contentious claim from Magic Johnson. According to NBA.com's Kia MVP Ladder, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is still the favorite to defend his crown as the reigning MVP. Giannis Antetokounmpo is now tied with Joel Embiid for the second spot, while Ja Morant and DeMar DeRozan round out the Top 5.
KAT does not appear to be anywhere close on that list right now, but Magic Johnson is staking his claim here. Has Towns done enough to propel himself to the MVP conversation?
