Former NBA center Greg Oden, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of the Ohio State University, will get a chance to return to the basketball court this upcoming summer after agreeing to join the BIG3 draft pool, the league announced via Twitter on Monday.

Back in 2007, Oden was widely considered to be the next great talent at the center position and was selected one spot ahead of current Golden State Warriors superstar forward Kevin Durant. Unfortunately, he never came close to living up to the hype and dealt with numerous injuries throughout his brief NBA career.

The 30-year-old center recently spent one season in the Chinese Basketball Association before being waived in 2016. He re-enrolled in school at Ohio State, where he spent one year playing during the 2006-07 NCAAB season before he was drafted first overall by the Portland Trail Blazers.

Other former NBA players whose names have come up and agreed to join the BIG3 2018 draft pool are shooting guard Morris Peterson, power forward Stromile Swift, point guard Smush Parker, small forward Jumaine Jones, power forward Sean Williams, point guard Anthony Johnson, shooting guard Keith Bogans, and many more.

It's been a tough NBA road for Oden to this point due to the plethora of injuries he had to endure, but hopefully, his trip to the BIG3 goes very well for him.

In just 105 career NBA games, with his most recent action coming during the 2013-14 season with the Miami Heat, Oden averaged 8.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocked shots in only 19.3 minutes of action per contest.
