New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis asked the Pelicans for a trade earlier in the week, and he insists that doing so is not about money, but about his legacy:

This seems pretty obvious, as Davis is turning down the potential of signing the supermax with the Pelicans to pursue a trade. That being said, one might assume that Davis also values the endorsement opportunities of a larger market, but it seems that Davis only cares about winning.
Such is life in the NBA today.

Davis clearly doesn't see much of a future in terms of success in New Orleans.
Since being drafted by the organization in 2012, Davis has gone to the playoffs just twice, losing to the Golden State Warriors in the first round in 2015 and then falling to the Warriors again—this time in the second round—last spring.
The three teams that seem to have the best chance of landing Davis are the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and New York Knicks, all three of whom will provide a chance for Davis to win long term.
Many felt the Pelicans would be a contender in the Western Conference this season, but New Orleans currently owns a record of just 23-29 and looks far from a playoff team.
