Originally the sixth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers, Martell Webster has had an interesting journey. Despite establishing himself as a three-point shooter, Webster revealed he would ‘probably' retire when his contract ended at the age of 30 back in 2014.
After being waived by the Washington Wizards during the 2015-16 NBA season, Webster decided to attempt a comeback with the New Orleans Pelicans two seasons later. However, the 30-year-old has announced his retirement on Twitter:

However, it appears he is valuing his long-term health and time with family as he mentioned in an interview three years ago.
For the Pelicans, they are at a delicate stage as Davis is looking to win and Cousins will become an unrestricted free agent following the 2017-18 NBA season. While New Orleans re-signed Jrue Holiday and signed Rajon Rondo in free agency, it remains to be seen if it is enough to make the playoffs in the highly competitive Western Conference.
