AD could miss Saturday night's game against the Utah Jazz. The Brow was able to finish out Friday's game against Brooklyn with 38 minutes. Davis finished Friday night's game with 18 points, 14 rebounds, 4 steals, and 5 blocks. The stat line was dominant, but it was Davis' lowest point total of the season. His shooting elbow discomfort could very well be the reason.
Davis did have his worse shooting performance of the season. AD went 6-of-19 from the field in Friday night's game against Brooklyn. If this issue continues in his shooting elbow, it may be wise to sit him for multiple games. Davis has been incredible, averaging 27.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in four games this season.
New Orleans is off to a red-hot start (4-0) and while AD is by far their best player, the Pelicans have great role players that could potentially fill in for Davis. The Pelicans would likely need Nikola Mirotic and Julius Randle to step up if AD is forced to miss any time. Mirotic is averaging 23.8 points and 9.8 rebounds and Randle is averaging 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds.
Although Davis plays a significant role for New Orleans, the Pelicans should be cautious going forward with him. The fact that he is experiencing discomfort in his shooting elbow may result in a more lengthy than recovery. The Pelicans will need to keep a watchful eye on their superstar as he will undoubtedly be their key to success this season.
