Many people might have an impression that New Orleans is not a great basketball location. Some believe that the city only cares about the Saints and Louisiana State University football, setting aside the Pelicans oftentimes. However, this is far from the truth.
When team owner Gayle Benson went to visit the team on Wednesday to encourage them to remain optimistic, Alvin Gentry told reporters that his team is not treated like second class citizens in New Orleans.
“I read something how the Pelicans are second class… that's the furthest thing from the truth. If you don't believe me, I'll take you to our practice facility. You can visit any other one in the NBA and then tell me that it's not any better than other teams in the NBA. To say that is really disrespectful to Mr and Mrs. Benson. they've been nothing butsupportivee. She flew from here to Portand to watch us play, and then flew all the way to see her horse in the Kentucky Derby, and then flew back again. To me, anyone who questions her decidation to the Pelicans opposed to that of the Saints… and we all love the Saints. All this stuff pisses me off… Whoever wrote that is actually full of sh–.”

The Pelicans have been in the news all this past week. Anthony Davis came out, via his agent Rich Paul, saying that he would like to be traded elsewhere. There have been rumors that he would like to join LeBron James to play with the Los Angeles Lakers.
