New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry told reporters in Houston on Tuesday that the media has a better chance at betting on the New Orleans Saints in the Super Bowl than getting superstar big man Anthony Davis to speak on his trade request.
Anthony Davis has requested a trade from the Pelicans, but he won't be available to speak to the media because he's currently out with a finger injury. The Saints, who were robbed of a Super Bowl berth due to a missed pass interference call by the referees, will be watching the Super Bowl on TV instead of playing in it, so Alvin Gentry is clearly having some fun with the reporters and trying to get the spotlight off him and the franchise.
Anthony Davis made the trip to Houston but wonât talk to media today. âYouâve got a better chance of betting on the Saints in the Super Bowl,â Alvin Gentry joked. âWhere they should be.â

By rule, injured players aren't required to speak to the media. The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 7. If New Orleans does in fact trade Anthony Davis this season, there's a chance he has spoken his last words to the local media in New Orleans.
This is a tough and awkward time for the Pelicans. Their franchise player has made it known he wants out of town. Now, the front office has to do their proper due diligence and get the best offer possible for Anthony Davis, who is arguably a top-five player in the NBA.
