In lieu of his recent trade request, the New Orleans Pelicans have decided to remove Anthony Davis from several pieces of their promotional material, including the team's pregame hype video.

A new video was shown prior to Wednesday's game against the Denver Nuggets, but it contained no highlights of Davis. When asked about the change, head coach Alvin Gentry told reporters that he has “never even seen that video.”

“I really haven't,” Gentry told USA Today. “I'm not avoiding anything, but I mean, I couldn't tell you who's on that and who's not.”

Davis, who's made it known that he would like to play for a championship-caliber team, did not suit up for Wednesday night's 105-99 loss due to an injured finger. According to several reports, the former Kentucky Wildcat waited for his teammates in the locker room after the game.

“I think we're making more of a big deal out of it than it is,” Gentry told reporters. “As I said, still talked to all the guys, he was still in there when we came in. That's what I know. So whatever you guys want to write or make out of that, you've got to do what you've got to do, but I think you're reaching a little bit.”

On Monday morning, Davis and his agent, Rich Paul, informed the Pelicans that they are not interested in signing a contract extension. This revelation caught some by surprise, but Davis felt it was the right time, according to a person close to the situation.

Paul, who also represents Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, detailed Davis' mindset in an interview with ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski:

“Anthony wants to be traded to a team that allows him a chance to win consistently and compete for a championship,” Paul told ESPN. “Anthony wanted to be honest and clear with his intentions and that's the reason for informing them of this decision now. That's in the best interests of both Anthony's and the organization's future.”

Exactly where Davis will land is still up for speculation. Stay tuned for more updates on this topic as they become available.
