New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry doesn't know if superstar big man Anthony Davis will play for the team again once he's recovered from his left index finger injury.

Anthony Davis has requested a trade from the Pelicans.

The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 7. It's coming up. It is unclear when Anthony Davis will fully heal from his injury. If the Pelicans don't trade Davis at the trade deadline, it will be very interesting to see if he plays for the Pelicans.

When Jimmy Butler requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves, he played for the team while the franchise was looking for trades.

However, Butler did sit out a few games for rest before he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. It's always awkward when a player is in a locker room when everyone knows he wants out.

In 41 games this season for New Orleans, Anthony Davis is averaging 29.3 points, 13.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per contest while shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 32.5 percent from beyond the arc and 81.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Pelicans defeated the Houston Rockets on Tuesday.

Davis was on the bench and was seen talking to coaches late in the game helping them out with schemes.
