The next time Anthony Davis shares the floor with the Los Angeles Lakers, there's a chance he's wearing forum blue and gold. The New Orleans Pelicans superstar is a game-time decision for his team's matchup with the Lakers on Sunday as he deals with a sore back.

Davis, of course, turned the league on its head earlier this season when he requested a trade from New Orleans. Subsequent reports surfaced that the six-time All-Star not only had hopes of being traded to Los Angeles, but also planned to sign with the Lakers as a free agent in 2020 regardless of where he might play between this season and the time he hits unrestricted free agnecy. Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka reportedly offered multiple trade packages to the Pelicans in exchange for Davis, including one made up of each of the team's promising young payers.

New Orleans balked at each of Los Angeles' offers, though, and didn't receive one from a competing team that compelled the organization to honor Davis' request before the trade deadline passed on February 7th. He's been in and out of the lineup since, playing on a team-imposed minutes restriction, as the Pelicans try to strike the delicate balance between honoring the league's edict that Davis play if healthy while preserving his trade value.

The 26 year old has missed the Pelicans' last two games with bask spasms, an injury first noted by the team before its loss to the Houston Rockets on Sunday, a game in which Davis appeared. He's averaging 16.6 points and 8.5 rebounds in 22.0 minutes per game since the trade deadline, playing in 15 of a possible 22 contests.
