New Orleans Pelicans superstar power forward Anthony Davis was fined $50,000 on Tuesday for violating a collectively-bargained rule prohibiting players or their representatives from making public trade demands.
Anthony Davis is making a nice $25,434,263 million this season, so it's safe to say he will be able to afford the fine.
However, according to salary cap guru Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report and Basketball Insiders, Davis' trade kicker would actually cover his trade request fine if he's dealt by the Feb. 7 deadline.
By the way, if AD is traded in the next week+, his trade bonus will cover that (~$65,976) https://t.co/8PT2KpZsWT

Davis signed a five-year, $127.2 million maximum rookie extension with the Pelicans back in 2015. Who knew back then that his trade kicker could possibly be put to good use four years later.
It is unclear if the Pelicans are going to trade Davis at the deadline, or wait until the summer to move their franchise cornerstone. What is clear is that New Orleans can't mess this up. They have to get the best possible return for Davis, who is arguably a top-five player in the league and a once-in-a-generation talent.
The Pelicans drafted Davis with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. The Brow has career averages of 24.0 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.4 blocks. Davis is a five-time All-Star, has made the ALL-NBA team three times, the All-Defensive team three times, and won the 2017 All-Star game MVP.
