The New Orleans Pelicans are off to one of their best starts in franchise history, and Elfrid Payton is playing through the pain to keep their streak alive.

However, he should be fine when the Pelicans take on the Utah Jazz tonight.

Elfrid Payton so far is averaging 14.5 points, 7.0 assists and rebounds per game. He is shooting 51.5 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three.

If he were to ever miss a game, or had left the game last night, the Pelicans would miss him dearly. He and Jrue Holiday have been huge in the backcourt for the Suns and will be huge in determining the teams success going forward.

It has been only four games to start the season so far, but it seems like Payton has developed great chemistry with the rest of the starters and the team, which is how they are off to their best start in franchise history.

It will be interesting to see how well Payton plays tonight and if these cramps occur again during the game and if he deals with it like he dealt with them last night.

With Elfrid Payton most likely playing tonight when the Pelicans play the Jazz, it will give a huge boost to not only the starters, but to the team that he will play through injury.

Payton was the number 10 pick in the 2014 draft. He was drafted by the Orlando Magic. This past season, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns. He signed a one-year deal with the Pelicans during the offseason. The Pelicans are looking to continue their undefeated season tonight.
