Contrary to what others may think, Jrue Holiday's status with the New Orleans Pelicans remains rock solid even after the Anthony Davis trade brought Lonzo Ball to Louisiana, per Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.

Early word I'm hearing is Pelicans want to keep Jrue Holiday. Think they remain competitive in the West with youth.

Along with Ball, the Pelicans also received Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart to go along with three first-round picks that include this year's No. 4 overall. The deal puts the Pelicans in a great position to build on their future, but that doesn't mean the present day is already left for tanking purposes.

Ball, Ingram, and Hart are already contributors and Holiday could be the perfect veteran to mentor these youngsters.

On one hand, Julius Randle could opt-out of his $9 million player option for next season after putting up 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game in a banner 2018-19 campaign; but a reunion with his former Lakers teammates could entice him to return.

Let's not forget that a man-child in Zion Williamson is also on his way to New Orleans.

Last season, Jrue Holiday put up a career-best 21.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. He has also risen up within the ranks of the NBA's best guard defenders, making his backcourt partnership with Ball a very tantalizing prospect for the Pelicans.
