Free agent shooting guard Charles Cooke has agreed to a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Cooke is a four-year undrafted senior out of Dayton that fits both of the Pels' needs — outside shooting and defense.
Yet the 6-foot-5 wing will need a chance to develop a bit more, but could possibly crack the rotation if injuries happen like they did earlier last season.
Cooke posted 15.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game in his senior season with the Flyers after transferring from community college prior to his junior season.
The 23-year-old has a package similar to Buddy Hield, combining athleticism, aggressiveness at the wing, and a penchant for getting stops at the defensive end.
Cooke shot a whisker shy of 40 percent from beyond the arc in both of his seasons at Dayton, making him a good candidate to become a wing weapon with the likely departure of Dante Cunningham at some point this offseason.
