Since the start of free agency, the New York Knicks have kept tabs on former MVP point guard Derrick Rose.

With that in mind, the Knicks' rookie point guard Frank Ntilikina is hoping that his new team will bring back Rose next season, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

“He’s the youngest MVP of the NBA history, I can learn from him,’’ Ntilikina said after missing his third straight summer league game with a knee bruise. “It would be good. He’s done a lot of things in his career. For sure it would be good. I’m not controlling what management is doing. I trust the management and the coaching staff to do what’s best for the team.’’

New York has a need to bring back a veteran starting point guard while Ntilikina develops his individual game. Rose would be a strong fit as he already has experience playing with the team and would be a source of reliability despite coming off yet another knee surgery, which was his four in the last six years.

The question in this scenario may come with how much the Knicks would be willing to pay Rose. It had been previously reported that he was hoping to secure a max contract of five years worth $150 million. However, that may very well be a figure that the team is unwilling to meet given his well-documented injury history.

Rose had a productive year with the Knicks prior to suffering a torn meniscus, averaging 18.0 points on 47.1 percent shooting along with 4.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game.
