However, the organization has made it clear that they plan on easing him into the fold as the season wears on. It's something that Ntilikina understands, but at the same time wants to be named the Knicks' starting point guard from the get-go, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.

The 19-year-old is in the Knicks' long-term plans by there is an expected adjustment period for him beyond just learning the ins and outs of the NBA game as he's still a developing player. This is why the Knicks signed a veteran point guard in Ramon Sessions to help ease the transition for Ntilikina in his first campaign.

If he's able to show that he can handle his own next season, there's no reason to believe that he can't earn the starting job at some point in his rookie year. Ntilikina has unique size at 6-foot-5 with a 7-foot wingspan that could lend well to him defensively. He's also shown to be a point guard with a pass-first mentality while being a strong ball-handler.

Ultimately, his role in his first season may all depend on his patience with the process.
