In what could be the New York Knicks front office's smartest move in years, David Fizdale was installed as the team's new head coach for the upcoming season. Sophomore point guard Frank Ntilikina has huge praises for the defensive wiz, saying that Fizdale is a great coach.
Marc Berman of the New York Post wrote a column on the young 6-foot-5 Frenchman and how excited Ntilikina is on the Knicks' chances to be a contender this season.
“We have a great coach for our team,’’ said Ntilikina, whose seven starts last season all came at shooting guard. “We trust him to do the best decisions. He knows basketball. If he wants me to start, I’ll start. I’ll be ready. If he wants me to come off the bench, doesn’t matter. I’ll come on the court as ready as I’ll be.”

The Knicks have been stuck in a rebuilding process since its last postseason appearance in 2013. Once the proudest team in the league, the New York's finest has become a laughingstock in the NBA, even amassing a franchise-worst 17-65 win-loss record in 2015.
But with Fizdale at the helm, the team is headed on the right path. With superstar Kristaps Porzingis still recovering from an ACL injury, Fizdale will make do with a ragtag bunch of players, including a defensive point guard in Ntilikina.
While Ntilikina still needs to create a name for himself in the league, he is arguably the Knicks' best choice for the starting point guard position. Defense will be his ultimate trump card, a priority for Fizdale's defense-oriented system.
