After a surprise 130-118 victory on Sunday night against the San Antonio Spurs, the New York Knicks were able to avoid tying an embarrassing record for the most consecutive home defeats for any team in the history of the league.

Fortunately for the Knicks, their home losing streak ends at 18 — just one defeat shy of the record currently held by the Dallas Mavericks.

18 straight defeats on your home floor — in the Mecca of basketball, no less — is definitely a terrible record to have, but at least they were able to escape an even more humiliating feat. For the Knicks, they're just happy that their streak ended at 18 and that the Mavs can keep their record for themselves.

It was a total team effort for New York on Sunday, as a total of six players scored at least 15 points against the Spurs. Sophomore shooting guard Damyean Dotson led the way for the Knicks with 27 big points on 9-of-17 shooting from the floor and 8-of-13 from beyond the arc.

Kevin Knox (19 points, 10 rebounds), Dennis Smith Jr. (19 points, 13 assists), and Lance Thomas (16 points, seven rebounds) all showed up for the Knicks in this one, while Emmanuel Mudiay (19 points, three 3-pointers) and Mitchell Robinson (15 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks) both provided a much-needed spark off New York's bench.

That's now two wins in three games for the Knicks, and they will hope to keep up the trend on Tuesday as they host the Orlando Magic at Madison Square Garden.
