The New York Knicks could offer Kristaps Porzingis a contract offer close to the max, but there is no guarantee he will sign one. According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, the 7-foot-3 big man has been skeptical of the Knicks — and it's hard to blame him.
The organization has a horrid track record of bad signings and poor roster construction, and that's only the beginning. Financial negligence when it comes to contract lengths, extensions and permutations has plagued this franchise for years, all under the ownership of James Dolan, who has become the centerpiece of the tragedy this team has become.
Porzingis has a truce with the organization after former president Phil Jackson berated former teammate Carmelo Anthony in front of the media prior to trading him — an action that left a very sour aftertaste for him, as he spent all of his offseason away from the team.

Dolan says he has stepped away from making decisions when it comes to personnel, but the Knicks' front office will have to present a solid offer in the summer, along with making their intentions clear before the Latvian big man decides to sign with the team.
