The 2022 NBA trade season should be a busy one for the New York Knicks. To say that they have disappointed this season is badly underselling it. They are on their way to missing even the play-in tournament after being the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference last year. Something has to change for them. The best way to do so is by reshuffling the roster.
Bringing in a new star is the best possible remedy. De'Aaron Fox would satisfy the Knicks' need for a sturdy, long-term option at point guard and invigorate the team with energy and an offensive spark. The Sacramento Kings reportedly do not want to deal him away but they may decide to in a desperate attempt to spark a run to the playoffs. Rival teams think that Fox is actually attainable.
On ESPN's Brian Windhorst and The Hoop Collective podcast (at the 38-minute mark), Windhorst said that the Knicks have shown interest in the Kings' star and that the most sensible player to trade for him is New York's franchise player, Julius Randle.

This has been reported elsewhere, but I've heard as well that the Knicks have shown some interest in De'Aaron Fox. The player that makes the most sense in that swap is Julius Randle.
A Fox-for-Randle swap wouldn't exactly shake up the league, as both the Knicks and Kings remain far removed from title contention. However, both teams would be drastically altered as their play styles are nearly polar opposites. Randle is available for trade for the right price. Fox, a young, explosive point guard with star potential, would suffice.
