The Oklahoma City Thunder are still in their rebuild process, a process in which the front office has done a great job. The Thunder front office did essentially everything that every rebuilding team should do and that's by going out and acquiring draft picks and young players who they think can be a part of their team now and in the future.

In order for the Thunder to continue their successful rebuild process, they're going to need to avoid some major mistakes. Let's take a look at three areas the Thunder must avoid so that they can speed up this rebuild process but also be safe in what they are doing.

Thunder Must Avoids 2022

3. Make a move or two and see what can happen

the Thunder certainly have some falent on their team including Josh Giddey, Sahi Gilgeous-Alexander, and a few other guys. The reality of the situation is that they are clearly not ready to compete for an NBA title and even if they do make a move or two, they still probably won't be.

What they do need to realize is that they do have many draft picks and a lot of trade options in terms of players so they could decide to maybe trade a few players to try to get back a favorable return and attempt to speed up the rebuild process.

A guy like Jerami Grant could make a lot of sense for this team because he is still only twenty-seven years old and with him being that young, he would fit perfectly with this rebuild.

If the Thunder can somehow make a few moves without giving up any of their draft picks, they will be in a perfect position. They have to realize that they're going to continue building their team through the draft and that they could afford to trade some of their guys who aren't going to be a part of the future for a few other pieces who could potentially help this team out now and in the future.

2. Do not go all out and keep embracing the rebuild

When looking at all the trade assets that the Thunder do have, it wouldn't be crazy for them to attempt to speed that process up by trading a bunch of guys and draft picks to go get a few star players and potentially start competing once again in the NBA.

This is the last thing that the Thunder should think about doing and if they are going to want to find any success, they need to keep embracing this rebuild and keep doing a great job by what they are doing. They have embraced this rebuilding process perfectly by acquiring many draft picks and young players who could be traded one day.

It will be smarter if the Thunder do decide to maybe make a move or two but it could also be a better idea if they decide to wait for the summertime when there are free agents and they have a little bit of money to spend.

There have been rumors that the Thunder could potentially go after a guy like Ben Simmons if they do trade some draft picks and maybe a player too, but that wouldn't be a good idea for this team. Bringing him in isn't going to necessarily change this Thunder team at all and they need to be cautious about the moves that they do make.

They have done such a great job as a front office and if they do decide to rush the rebuild, it could be a bad decision.

1. Keep playing with fire and having fun

The reason why the Thunder has found some of the little success that they have this season despite being one of the least talented teams in all of basketball is that they do play with a lot of fire.

They obviously haven't found much success this year considering they only do have 13 wins and are 13-27 on the year. What is true about this Thunder team is that they go out there and compete every single night and always make it tough on their opponents. This is something that is going to help them along the way with this rebuild because as we can all tell when watching them play, they're having a lot of fun. Whenever a team is having a lot of fun and playing with a certain kind of fire, good things can happen.

If the Thunder are going to want to have more success in the future, they need to continue playing with this passion and drive that they are currently playing with. At the moment, they aren't finding much success playing this way, but playing basketball the right way and playing with that fire and drive is only a good thing and it's going to surely help this team one day.
