The Orlandoo Magic are staying active in the offseason. According to a report from Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the Magic have decided to pick up Wesley Iwundu's $1.6 million team option for the 2019-20 NBA season.

The Magic selected Iwundu with the 33rd overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. The former Kansas State standout made 68 appearances with the team last season (13 starts), racking up averages of 5.0 points on 41.2 percent shooting from the field (36.7 percent from beyond the arc), 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 18.1 minutes per outing.

Iwundu proved that he is a versatile option off the bench last season, which is likely one of the reasons the Magic are willing to bring him back. At 6-7, he has the length to guard several positions, and his 7-foot-1 wingspan is often problematic for opposing sides. If he can manage to improve his offensive game, he could be a valuable two-way player for Orlando.

The Magic finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 42-40 overall record, which was good enough for a 7th seed in the playoffs. Unfortunately, though, Orlando was defeated by the eventual champions (Toronto Raptors) in the first round. Hopefully, with a clean slate, the team can make another run for the playoffs next season.
