Thomas has had a bit of a stunning fall from grace over the last year and a half. After being traded to the Boston Celtics, initially to be a backup in a rebuilding stage, he ended up being too good not to start. He averaged 22.2 points in his first full year with the Celtics, and then went on to average a career-high 28.9 points in the 2016-17 season, leading the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals on a bad hip that ended up costing him most of the next season.

Not only was Thomas injured, but the pairing simply did not work and he was shipped off to the Los Angeles lakers after suiting up for just 15 games as a member of the Wine and Gold.
With the Lakers, Thomas only managed to play 17 games before he and the team decided it was in his best interest to shut him down and get surgery on his injured hip.
For his career, Thomas is averaging 18.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.9 three-pointers per game on 44 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc.
