Ben Simmons is not compared to all-time greats like LeBron James and Magic Johnson for nothing. The Philadelphia 76ers rookie is being constantly mentioned in the same sentence with those legends because of his seemingly boundless capabilities on the court.

On Saturday night, Simmons provided yet another evidence of why he is a superstar in the making by simply rattling off a triple-double as early as the third quarter of the Sixers’ home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, per Keith Pompey of Philly.com

Whether Ben Simmons will end up winning the Rookie of the Year honors for this season or not, what’s undeniable is that the Sixers rookie is playing on a high level. That is not a subject for debate. Simmons is playing like a savvy veteran with a great feel for the game to go with a high basketball IQ, and terrific physical tools, and these are just the primary reasons why the 21-year-old point guard is considered to be a cornerstone of Philly’s franchise. Arguably, he is the most important player for the Sixers.

Simmons entered the Minnesota game having averaged a triple-double of 12.3 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 11.3 assists in the previous six Philly outings, and with a triple-double again tonight, the former LSU Tiger just became the second rookie ever to put up a triple-double over a seven-game stretch, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Simmons also joins Russell Westbrook and James as the only players this season so far to have at least 10 triple-doubles. And oh, he also dished out this incredible assist against Minnesota.
