The Sixers haven't held a game in Philadelphia since February 15, when they were destroyed by the Boston Celtics 135-87. Since then, they have gone 3-0 on the road, two of those games with their newest addition James Harden in the starting lineup.
The Sixers host the New York Knicks in their first home game in over two weeks on Wednesday. This will also be Harden's first game in Philadelphia as a member of the Sixers. According to Doc Rivers, Philadelphia fans are ready to welcome The Beard to the Wells Fargo Center with open arms.
Sixers beat reporter Keith Pompey tweeted the news Tuesday afternoon.
#Sixers coach Doc Rivers on what he's expecting the atmosphere to be like during tomorrow's home debut for James Harden vs. the #NewYork #Knicks:
“I don’t know, nuts. Is it ever not? I’m expecting it to be louder. Crazy. Good. But that's who we are most of the time, anyway.”— Keith Pompey (@PompeyOnSixers) March 1, 2022
Rivers expects the fans to be even louder and crazier than usual, and who could blame them? Philadelphia fans are some of the most passionate fans in professional sports, and the chemistry between Harden and the Sixers has been electric the past two games.
Fans around the Philadelphia area love the EmBeard duo and the energy that the new starting five have on the court. They had their eyes glued to the screen to watch his first game last Friday.
Harden's Sixers debut at the Minnesota Timberwolves was the highest-rated Sixers regular season game locally in 21 years. It also tied the third highest-rated Sixers game on record.
