James Harden was a disaster for the most part of his 2022 postseason run with the Philadelphia 76ers, which is why a lot of people believe Daryl Morey and the Sixers should part ways with him and try to find a new star to pair up with Joel Embiid.

Despite those calls, though, it doesn't look like the Sixers have any plans to listen to them. In fact, they are still of the belief that they can win with the Embiid-Harden pairing.

“The plan is to have him back. That's been the plan since the trade. Obviously, we have to work with his representation, and that'll be between us to figure out how that works,” Morey said, per Derek Bodner of The Daily Six.

James Harden has a player option for 2022-23, but he can sign a max extension with the Sixers this offseason for the team to keep him long-term.

Of course the question for many is whether Philly should do that or not after what happened in the 2022 playoffs, during which Harden failed to make an impact and looked like a shell of his old self that used to dominate in Houston. The Sixers got eliminated by the Miami Heat in the second round, ending a run that was largely expected to even reach the NBA Finals.

Harden himself has vowed to stay with the Sixers, but it remains to be seen what kind of deal he'll reach with the franchise. Philly fans, however, should hope that it won't set the team back in the long run.
