Joel Embiid is the most recognizable member of the Process-era Philadelphia 76ers. Due to his nickname being “The Process,” Embiid is literally synonymous with the machinations of maligned former General Manager Sam Hinkie and his tanking strategy to obtain good draft picks. As such, Embiid is an extremely beloved Philadelphia sports icon. However, his recent Tweet about the NFL’s Thursday Night Football matchup (the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Green Bay Packers) sent Sixers fans into a frenzy.
Go Pack Go

As you can see, Embiid (who, to be fair, is a bit of an online troll) roots for the Green Bay Packers instead of the hometown Eagles. That fact did not go over well with Eagles fans, who came out in spades to clown Embiid’s choice in which team to root for.

Clearly, Philly fans are not to be trifled with when it comes to their teams, even if the person doing the trifling is a member of one of those teams.
Embiid is looking to help push the 76ers all the way to an NBA championship next season, and he is one of the brightest young stars in the game. Embiid has made the All-Defensive Second Team for two seasons in a row as well as the All-NBA Second Team in each of those years as well.
Embiid’s numbers with the 76ers last season were absurdly good (27.5 PPG, 13.6 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1.9 BPG) and the Sixers were one bounce away from making it to the Eastern Conference Finals against the rival Milwaukee Bucks.
