The Philadelphia 76ers are playing their first game since the James Harden blockbuster trade. Sixers star Joel Embiid was apparently motivated after the trade, as he made franchise history with an epic first quarter effort against the Thunder, as reported by the NBA on ESPN.

Joel Embiid was feeling himself in the first quarter of the Sixers-Thunder game. With 11 points and 10 rebounds in the first period, Embiid became the first player in franchise history to record a double-double in the first quarter in the play-by-play era, which dates back to 1996-97.

The Thunder frontcourt was clearly no match for Embiid, who continues to dominate on a nightly basis for the Sixers. This isn't the only piece of franchise history that the MVP candidate has made this season, as he incredibly rattled off four straight 38-point, 12-rebound games earlier this year.

Embiid is averaging a career-high 29.4 points, 10.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and over a steal and block per game. The Thunder shouldn't be too mad at themselves, as the Sixers big man has been doing this to just about everyone this season.

If Joel Embiid keeps playing like he did against the Thunder on Friday, he could soon be adding a piece of NBA history to his own list of accolades: an NBA MVP trophy.
