With their easy 116-96 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, the Philadelphia 76ers have notched their 50th win of the season. This marks the Sixers' second consecutive 50-win season after going 52-30 in 2017-18.

This is the first time in 23 years that the franchise has pieced together back-to-back 50-win seasons.

With two games remaining on their schedule, Philadelphia still has a chance to match their 52-30 record last year. Likewise, similar to last season, the Sixers will enter the playoffs as the no. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.

This is an amazing accomplishment for Philadelphia. It's easy to forget that they are just two years removed from arguably their darkest years as a franchise.

The City of Brotherly Love had to endure a depressing three-year stretch of basketball from their beloved Sixers. From the 2013-14 season to the 2015-16 season, Philadelphia won just a total of 47 games, including an abominable 10-win season in 2015-16.

However, their fortunes seemed to turn around in the 2016-17 season with the debut of Joel Embiid. Unfortunately, a foot injury cut Embiid's rookie season to just 31 games, and the Sixers won just 28 contests.

Nonetheless, that particular season was a sign of things to come. The light at the end of the tunnel was beginning to show. With Embiid putting on a relatively healthy campaign and with the debut of 2016 first overall pick Ben Simmons, the Sixers surprisingly became one of the top teams in the East in 2017-18.

This season, they acquired Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris to form arguably the best starting five in the Eastern Conference. The additions of both players have raised the level of expectation in Philadelphia.

So far, they have proven themselves in the regular season. However, the true test for a team that is as talented as this one will come in the playoffs.
