Joel Embiid is out indefinitely for the Philadelphia 76ers due to a head injury, and Stephen A. Smith couldn't believe it.

The Cameroonian center has been sidelined without a timetable for a return due to a right orbital fracture and mild concussion he sustained in their series-clinching Game 6 win against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday. That means he'll likely miss the Sixers' opening matchup against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

While Stephen A. admitted that he wants to see the Heat win the series and reach the East Finals, he doesn't want it to be because of the absence of Embiid.

“Damn,” Smith said of the injury to the Sixers superstar. “Look, ain't no need to lie, we all know where we wanna be for the Eastern Conference Finals: I wanna be in South Beach. I wanna be in Miami. … But not this way. I want Joel Embiid to be on the court, I want him balling, I want him to put his greatness on display as I want for everybody. That's what I wanna see.

“If you're great, if you can ball, I want you out there so we can see your greatness put on display (do you hear me Kyrie?). That's all. We want to see the great players play.”

The veteran broadcaster then went on to challenge James Harden to show up once again like he did in Game 6 against the Raptors. With Joel Embiid's return uncertain, it is up to The Beard to carry the scoring load for the Sixers.

Embiid's absence is definitely a huge blow to the Sixers, and it's impossible for any player to replace what he does for the team on a nightly basis. Considering that, the rest of the Philly franchise needs to step up as well beyond just Harden.
