A few days away from training camp, Phoenix Suns star DeAndre Ayton speaks up on potentially not having Devin Booker in camp due to COVID-19. Just this week, Booker confirmed that he just tested positive for the virus and has officially entered the league's health and safety protocol.
Ayton, who's been Booker's partner-in-crime for the Suns for the past few seasons, is clearly missing out on his swingman but also claims that he's been in touch with Booker during his quarantine.

Period,” Ayton said (via Arizona Sports). “We gotta be ready because he’s gonna be ready. He’s been working. When I call him he’s always in his weight room doing something, touching the ball doing something.”
It's been a busy few months for Booker and ending the off-season on this note is definitely not ideal. Booker went straight from losing the 2021 NBA Finals to winning a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He should be all geared up for the upcoming '21-22 NBA season but this last-minute hurdle has him on the sidelines for at least another week or so.
Like Ayton mentioned, the Suns are patiently waiting for their shooting guard. For now, all they can do is grind it out without Booker and hope for the best as they prepare to defend their Western Conference title.
