Jalen Green’s game-winner at the buzzer snapped a two-game losing streak for the Suns that went back to before the All-Star break. He finished with 19 points, five rebounds, six assists and one steal in 37 minutes of play. He didn’t have the most efficient night, shooting only 6-of-26 from the field, including 2-of-11 from the 3-point line. But that last shot of his in OT was the biggest.
After missing 41 of the Suns’ first 43 games due to a hamstring injury, Green made his return to the lineup in late January. However, he was still bothered by injury issues and only ended up playing in five of the Suns’ games right before the All-Star break.
In the Suns’ first game back from the break last Thursday, Green moved back in the starting lineup and played a little over 26 minutes albeit in a loss to the San Antonio Spurs. He had 26 points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals in that game.
With Green missing the majority for the first half of the regular season, his return to the Suns’ rotation was almost like a trade deadline acquisition in itself.
Coming into Saturday’s game, Green had appeared in eight games for the Suns at a little over 16 minutes per game. He had been averaging 13.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists with splits of 42.7 percent shooting from the field, 37 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 84.6 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
