Bogdan Bogdanovic's future with the Sacramento Kings isn't set in stone, as the team is unlikely to extend him right now, according to Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee.

The Serbian sharpshooter is one of the many worries the franchise has to deal with, along with an impending extension for leading scorer Buddy Hield and future talks with point guard De'Aaron Fox, who is rounding out to be every bit of the franchise player the organization expected.

Bogdanovic is a great piece to have, but in order to get a deal done now, he'd have to agree to an average annual salary of $12.85 million — one he would certainly exceed if he becomes a restricted free agent next summer and fetches a higher number from other teams. The Kings would still have the right to match, but it would be a decision they would have to think about, as they're beginning to see the problems that stem from building a young and talented team.

Sacramento signed Harrison Barnes to a four-year, $85 million deal and center Dewayne Dedmon for $40 million and three years this summer. It would become difficult to keep Fox, Hield, and Bogdanovic through long-term extensions of their respective rookie deals, all without asphyxiating themselves in luxury tax.

Fox and Hield will be the priorities moving forward, as Bogdanovic is still a piece they could consider flipping in hopes to get something back for a player whose status in the league keeps rising by the second.
