San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich had the opportunity to make history on Monday night against the Chicago Bulls. A win for the Spurs would have seen Pop secure the second spot on the all-time wins list of the NBA. DeMar DeRozan knew this was the case so he made sure no history would be made against his Bulls.
DeRozan (40 points, three rebounds, seven assists) kept his hot streak going as he led Chicago to a 120-109 victory over the Spurs as the Bulls prevented Popovich from breaking his tie with Lenny Wilkens for the second-most wins in league history. After the game the Bulls star admitted that he just wasn't going to let Pop get the record over his Bulls (h/t NBA TV on Twitter):

I had a hell of an experience playing under Pop, learned so much from him. It was good to see him. But I'll definitely be watching when he get that record for sure.”

Coach Pop currently has 1,332 career wins, which is tied with another legend in Lenny Wilkens. Popovich's next win would have him solo second on the list, and just three wins away from surpassing Don Nelson (1,335) for the most wins in NBA history.
As DeRozan said, it's only going to be a matter of time before Pop claims the top spot, and much like everyone else, DeMar will also be tuned in for that special occasion.
