Greg Monroe was the biggest price the Milwaukee Bucks paid to extricate embattled Eric Bledsoe from the Phoenix Suns but the big man may soon find himself either out of work or out of the desert.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who first reported for the trade, Monroe’s contract could be bought out by the Suns if they failed to work out another trade to deal away the 27-year-old center.
No conversations yet on a Suns-Greg Monroe contract buyout, league sources tell ESPN. Suns will likely explore trade possibilities first, but it is unlikely partnership extends through end of the season. This is final year of Monroe's deal.

This makes some sense for Phoenix since Monroe’s addition further crowds the Suns’ frontcourt that already has Tyson Chandler and Alex Len. That’s not to mention Alan Williams, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury.
As mentioned by Wojnarowski, Monroe is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season. Len’s contract is also expiring next year, so the Suns have some major personnel decisions to make.
Monroe hasn’t played since Oct. 29 due to a calf injury and could be out for another week more. Before sustaining the injury, Monroe was averaging 6.8 points and 5.0 rebounds in only 15.8 minutes per game for Milwaukee.
